18" Beaux Arts Estrella of 1953 (#30) This is Estrella. She is the most rare doll from the Beaux Arts Series of 1953. Made in very scarce quantities, she does not appear in the catalogues. She is one of the "Ladies in Waiting" to Queen Elizabeth in the Coronation Procession. As you can see, her gown is far more detailed than her more mass-produced counterparts. Swirls of blue starched lace are appliqued to the lilac colored gown and decorated with silver metal starbursts. A great fuschia sash ends in a bow like bustle in the back. Long gloves with elaborate bracelets on each arm. Sequined crown with a large center ornament of three pear shaped "diamonds" signal her importance in the Royal Order. Exquisite walker doll with red hair and a royal expression on her Maggie face. Museum quality doll. $5500. |
