Mommie and Me (#14)

"Mommie and Me" are a pair of winning dolls made exclusively for the Lane Bryant Department Store in 1954. Mommie (14 1/2" tall) is the prototypical post WWII suburban mom, dressed in a conservative iridescent navy blue taffeta dress with a white pique collar and cuffs. In contrast, her white picture hat is quite lavish--trimmed with roses, forget-me-nots and black netting sprinkled with tiny gold dots. Mommie has "Breck Girl" shiny blonde hair and a very self-confident expression. Baby is a painted eye 5" hard plastic doll manufactured by the Irwin Plastic Co. and chosen by Madame Alexander to wear the miniature but grand Christening outfit. A copy of a research article about these dolls which appeared in "Doll News" in 2002 will come along with these wonderful, rare dolls. They are in the original bottom part of their box (missing the lid) with a clear plastic cover. $2400.
